A Fun Day Sunday!
Athletics Ireland’s Family Fitness Festival at Farmleigh in the Phoenix Park on July 4th will be an exciting day of fun events that will also highlight the importance of regular physical activity for both children and adults.
The festival is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to experience a variety of sporting activities in the beautiful surroundings of the Farmleigh Estate.
This FREE programme of events starts at 11am with the Athletics Ireland One Mile Family Challenge – a road event for all the family. You can walk, jog or run as the emphasis is very much on fun participation.
All participants in One Mile Family Challenge must enter online at http://familyfitnessfestival.eventbrite.com . Online entrants will be allocated a number that qualifies them to receive a medal and certificate on completion of the event. Closing date for One Mile Family Challenge entries is June 25th.
CHILDREN’S EVENTS begin at noon and include:
- Danone Big Toddle for Barnados: A short sprint/ walk/crawl for the tots- (under 5 years)
- McDonald’s Little Athletics Challenge ( 5-10 years): Fun agility tests supervised by Athletics Ireland professional staff
- Young Athletes Challenge (10-14 years): Agility challenges and talent assessment in a variety of fun drills
- Speed Gates: A challenge of speed, balance and co-ordination
- Treasure Run: Children and parents can test their orienteering skills as they explore the Farmleigh Estate
BORN IN THE USA
The Family Fitness Festival will also feature American-themed events to celebrate the 4th of July Celebrations: these include an American Football Exhibition Game and celebrity visit by Pittsburgh Steelers stars. American Choirs will perform uplifting and inspirational music throughout the day.
